R. Taylor Guitar 的故事
美國吉他名人Bob Taylor獻(xiàn)身制琴近四十年，Taylor吉他如今是世界上屬一屬二的吉他大廠，無論你是否喜歡他的琴，他的規(guī)模以及工藝品質(zhì)是難出其右的。但如今他決定另辟天地。為他對制琴的熱愛注入新動，于是他成立了R. Taylor公司。以完全不同于Taylor的制程及理念來打造不同檔次的吉他，一年多來 多數(shù)人抱著懷疑的態(tài)度 憑著成見覺得并無新奇之處，但這些人大多都沒親自試彈過R. Taylor 只是憑著以往對Taylor的印象罷了 以下是Bob的談話：
“我制琴至今已有三十五年了，雖然我的琴廠已有相當(dāng)規(guī)模，但我也親手做過幾千把琴。一把接著一把 其中一直憑借著對如此辛苦制程的一種執(zhí)著。砂紙和鑿子在手 對每一把琴的每個(gè)細(xì)節(jié)都精雕細(xì)琢。制琴師對此永遠(yuǎn)樂此不疲。”
雖然掌握Taylor廠的龐大資源，但我決定另起爐灶，以上述的理念來制琴 一把一把 沒有任何細(xì)節(jié)會嫌小 而產(chǎn)量一定會小。因?yàn)榇朔N制琴方式所需的智能非常罕有 只有在小產(chǎn)量的環(huán)境下才能充分被支持。
你或許會問，你有何資源呢？從事三十多年 Taylor吉他已經(jīng)收藏了無法想象的大量木材，領(lǐng)先所有同業(yè) 而那些不可思議的師傅和他們多年所獲得的經(jīng)驗(yàn)。在我認(rèn)為 是無人能及的 還有那些最優(yōu)秀的經(jīng)銷商。這一切皆在我的操控之中，而被對制琴精密工藝的熱愛所觸發(fā)，試想在Taylor大廠隔壁開一家小吉他工坊，隨時(shí)可以任意"借一杯糖" 免費(fèi)。
我還要提到這些師傅和我手把手的一起參與這些工作，起初先有Larry Breedlove 我近乎一生的設(shè)計(jì)伙伴。還有我們年輕的同事Ed Granero 我們?nèi)齻€(gè)構(gòu)成了原創(chuàng)設(shè)計(jì)的泉源，當(dāng)我在1973年到美國夢幻吉他工坊當(dāng)個(gè)18歲的制琴師，我在Timothy Luranc 所使用的工作臺旁工作，而Tim現(xiàn)在仍然和我在一起工作！他如今已經(jīng)轉(zhuǎn)換到R Taylor公司來 負(fù)責(zé)所有吉他最后的組裝以及客戶的維修工作，雖然多年來許多吉他在他手中完成，他在這個(gè)工作方向上暫時(shí)休息，而琴上漂亮的漆裝由Josh Carter負(fù)責(zé)，Josh在Taylor吉他作漆裝已有十多年 經(jīng)手的琴有好幾千，他是第一把手。
